Kitchen

Bret painted the kitchen.
He did a beautiful job!
We are thinking of slate for the floor.
The green will keep it from being just "red and grey".

Dining Lighting

We now have a new Dining Room chandelier:

Bret took the ball off the bottom of this lamp:
...which used to look like this:
(The ball made it look like an arachnid.)

Living Room

We got rid of the new Living Room rug and are trying again...it looks horrible. Yes, it does, and don't tell me it doesn't (even if you haven't seen it, which I know you haven't because no one but the piano movers, Bret, and Adam saw it.) And don't get me started on the piano restorers (who didn't see it, but are the ones who had the piano movers pick up and return the piano, which is really all very off topic)...

Deer me

Look what I found!

Enlarge this to see the numbers:

(yes, you have to, because I took the time to put numbers and helpful little arrows in it...thank you)

(The formatting is really getting on my nerves, it's skipping lines and other things, so all the awkward layout is not my choice.)

(...like this big space which if I try to get rid of, steals a photo too.)

and I'm not doing it over because I have to figure out why the air conditioning is trying to turn me into an eskimo and I want to get on to something else, like reading a book, because I'm having a menopause moment...which we all know means I'm a LITTLE grumpy.

But I did (and do) enjoy the deer and I am thrilled to share them with you and hope you enjoy them.

Bathroom

Bret made this wonderful built-in for the Master Bedroom.
Isn't he handy?
We got this rug for the Living Room:
This light for the Dining Room:
This bed for the Master Bedroom:
with two of these end tables:

Deforestation

Sadly, two wonderful trees had to come down in our front yard because they were deceased. One was about 120 years old and the other about 20 or 30 years old.
See the guy climbing up the tree?
He has a chain saw hanging from his belt as he climbs.
They don't just cut the trunk at the bottom and yell, "TIMBER". Instead, a guy climbs up the tree and cuts off the branches. He loops a rope around a branch that he isn't going to cut down yet, then ties the end to the branch he is going to cut down. So when it's falling, its plummeting path is controlled by the ropes.
And that's all I saw (pardon the pun) because I went back to reading my history book.
It was all too sad to lose my little tree pals.

6 September

I finally found a shower curtain and towel colour I could live with in the Guest bathroom (which I will never use, 'cause it's for the guests!):

Bret is working on shelves for the Master Bathroom. This is the beginning. It will be painted black, have a drawer in the middle,
then cabinet doors at the bottom.
We have a cabinet maker working on the bookshelves for the basement.
We are considering this tile for the kitchen:
Can you believe I am considering yellow?
But it's "just the thing".
